Emmanuel Adebayor must drop his wage demands if he is to secure a permanent deal with Tottenham, according to manager Harry Redknapp.

The Togolese forward has been in white hot form since joining Spurs on a season-long loan from Manchester City, scoring three and laying on a further two in four appearances.

However, his reported £150,000-a-week wages could prove a stumbling block and Redknapp insists the 27-year-old must drop his demands if he is stay at White Hart Lane permanently.

"If Emmanuel maintains his current form I would love to keep him but his wages are going to be a major stumbling block, that's for sure," Redknapp told The Sun.

"I have no idea how much we are paying towards his wages at the moment as the chairman [Daniel Levy] deals with those issues but I suspect they are massively subsidised by City."
