Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong has admitted he wants to leave White Hart Lane after falling out of favour with Harry Redknapp.

The Cameroon international has started just seven games this season and finds himself bottom of the pecking order behind the likes of William Gallas, Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul.

"For a bit, I felt lost because I haven't faced this situation before in my career. I feel that I have gone backwards, like I have gone from heaven to hell." Bassong told The Guardian.

"I am a guy who simply has to play. I would never just sit there and take the money. I am reaching an age where, if I don't play week in, week out, and if I don't feel real trust in me, then I can't stay, no matter which club it is." he added.

Bassong, who joined Spurs for £8m from Newcastle back in 2009, was instrumental alongside Dawson last season as the club gained Champions League football for the first time in their illustrious history.
