Pienaar to go under the knife

Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar is set for surgery to rectify groin and thigh problems.

Pienaar, who signed from Premier League rivals Everton in January, is currently on international duty with South Africa.

"The injury has been giving me lots of problems over the last few months. I've decided to go for the operation after the international." Pienaar said.

South Africa are coming up against Egypt this weekend in an African Cup of Nations qualifier.
