Reports suggest that Tottenham have rejected a £22m bid for Player of the Year Luka Modric.

The diminutive Croat has emerged as one of the Premier League most creative players since his arrival in 2008.

His displays in the heart of the Spurs midfield have seen Manchester United linked with the 25-year-old as a replacement for the recently retired Paul Scholes.

However, it is Chelsea who have made the first move of the summer but have had an initial bid flat out rejected by the Spurs hierarchy.

It is expected that the Blues will return with another and reports suggest that striker Didier Drogba may be used as a makeweight in any potential move.

Spurs have contstantly stated that Modric isn't for sale at any price but Modric, however, has refused to rule out the possibilty of a move away from White Hart Lane this summer.
