Ben McAleer in Emmanuel Adebayor, TRANSFER GOSSIP

Tottenham are set to make a loan move for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

City are desperate to offload the former Arsenal star and left the Togolese striker out of the squad for the clubs tour of America.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is desperate to agree a deal for the 27-year-old but any transfer is dependant on the players wage demands.

City are believed to want £14m for Adebayor but his £175,000-a-week wages may prove to be a stumbling block in any deal.

The North London outfit are interested in a one-year loan deal with an option to buy but are only willing to pay up to £75,000-a-week of the players wages.

They are hoping City will fund the remaining £100,000-a-week and are looking to sweeten the deal by offering a loan fee in order to secure his services.

Real Madrid, with whom Adebayor spent the latter half of the season on loan, are said to be monitoring developments but are unwilling to meet the players transfer value or weekly wages.

It could leave City with a major dilemma on their hands as they look to try and move Adebayor on.

Redknapp would also have no qualms about bringing an ex-Arsenal player to White Hart Lane having bought Williams Gallas to the club last summer.
