Robbie Keane has completed his protracted move to LA Galaxy.

The MLS side and Tottenham had been locked in negotiations over the weekend as Galaxy hoped to bring Keane stateside.

There was some doubt as to whether the move would go ahead after the transfer deadline passed at 5am GMT this morning and now official announcement had been made.

However, the 31-year-old sealed his switch to LA with the move being confirmed this evening.

And Keane, who signed a two-year deal with the American side, said of the deal "I am delighted, honored and very excited to be joining the LA Galaxy.

"I have always wanted to come and play in MLS so it's the perfect combination for me and a dream come true.

The Republic of Ireland captain won't be able to be added to the Galaxy squad due to the 'designated player' rule in the MLS.

However, Keane admits he found it difficult to turn down a move stateside following teammate David Beckham's glowing praise of the club earlier in the year.

"When David Beckham came and trained at Spurs recently he couldn't speak highly enough about the Galaxy, their fans and the league in general, so I can't wait to get over and get started," Keane added.
