Well, it's looking more and more like Diarra will sign in the coming days as Spurs look to bolster the squad ahead of the, delayed, season opener.
The Frenchman will add some strength in quality in depth while his positional sense and ability to break up play will undoubtedly be an asset to Redknapp this season, especially for the winter trips up north.
Yes, he may have played for Chelsea and Arsenal, much like Gallas, but without making much of an impact at both London sides, it was at Portsmouth where Diarra really made a name for himself before he moved to Real Madrid after an FA Cup winning season on the South Coast.
Since Redknapp has been at Spurs, we have been linked with the combative midfielder window after window. And now, it looks as though a move is finally beginning to materialise.
At the reported £10m that has been agreed, he is an absolute steal at that price and kudos must go to Levy for driving a hard bargain to bring in a player of his quality.
But where will he fit in? Jenas and Palacios won't be needed as much, if at all, should Diarra arrive especially with Sandro, Huddlestone and Modric, should he stay, all vying for starting sports.
The quartet will be enough to rival any squads midfield not just in the Premiership, but in the world. And I wouldn't be surprised if Redknapp switches from a 4-4-1-1 to a 4-2-3-1, especially if Adebayor arrives.
When the going gets tough, Redknapp could stick Sandro and Diarra in as the two and when goals are of the must, Huddlestone and Modric will occupy the deep role.
The possibilities are, seemingly, endless especially when you consider Kranjcar and Livermore can slot in when necessary. I wouldn't be surprised if Redknapp does tinker his formation to suit the four midfielders while utilising Van der Vaart, Lennon and Bale in more advanced roles.
Either way, if Spurs can bring in Adebayor and another centre-back before the close of the window, then I believe they will look like more than just top four contenders.
So, with just over 10 days to go before the close of play, now is squeaky bum time for Levy and co. as they look to re-vamp the squad to make Spurs serious title contenders.
And, if Redknapp does revert to a 4-2-3-1, wouldn't it be just superb to see Sandro and Huddlestone marshalling the midfield? Those two giants would strike fear into the hearts of any midifield.
