Ben McAleer in CLUB NEWS, Luka Modric

Ahead of tonight's game away at Manchester United, the news that Luka Modric will sit out for Spurs has grabbed a majority of the headlines.

Manager Harry Redknapp confirmed today that the Croatian will not play any part for his sides Premier League opener, claiming his head isn't in the right place ahead of renewed speculation that Chelsea are readying the third and final bid for the 25-year-old.

Tom Huddlestone made a cameo appearance in the 5-0 win over Hearts on Thursday and is expected to start tonight at the expense of Jake Livermore.

However, Sandro, Wilson Palacios (both knee), Steven Pienaar (groin) and Jermaine Jenas (achilles) are all set to miss out.

Defensive trio William Gallas, Ledley King and Alan Hutton all miss the trip to Old Trafford while Peter Crouch will face a late fitness test.

Potential starting XI:

Gomes; Assou-Ekotto, Dawson, Kaboul, Walker; Bale, Huddlestone, Kranjcar, Lennon; Van der Vaart, Defoe
