Manchester City have reportedly offered want-away striker Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham in exchange for winger Aaron Lennon.

Spurs are keen to bolster their strike-force before the close of the window at the end of the month and, as of yet, have failed to add to the signing of Brad Friedel.

Manager Harry Redknapp is a bid admirer of Adebayor and is keen to bring him back to North London before August 31st.

However, the Togolese striker's wage demands have proven a major stumbling block in any deal with Spurs unwilling to pay the bulk of the players' £175,000 he earns with City.

The Eastland's club are willing to do business with Spurs and are hoping to snare Lennon away from White Hart Lane in exchange for the former Arsenal striker.

Lennon has often fallen out of favour with Redknapp and the Spurs manager dropped the 24-year-old at the end of the season as reports of a major bust-up between the two continuously surfaced.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs are willing to let Lennon leave while Adebayor continues to declare his interest in moving back to Real Madrid, where he spent the latter half of last season on loan.
