Walker wants starting spot

Kyle Walker has warned teammates Vedran Corluka and Alan Hutton that he has returned to Tottenham to challenge for a starting spot ahead of the new campaign.

The 21-year-old arrived at White Hart Lane in 2009 and has been paitent as he looks to force his way into manager Harry Redknapp's plans.

Walker has spent time on loan with former club Sheffield United and Queens Park Ranger while a six-month loan spell with Aston Villa gave him the chance to showcase his abilities in the Premier League.

And the England U-21 international has been tipped to break into the first-team after impressing at Villa Park during his stint with the Midlands club.

"I've come here to play now," he said in the latest issue of Hotspur magazine.

"I have tasted Premier League football and that is what I want to do, I want to play football for Tottenham.

"I have signed a new contract and if I didn't want to stay here I wouldn't have signed it.

"I just want to play football and I want to play for Tottenham."
