Interview: Chris Kamara On The New Spurs Boss And Roberto Soldado's Tough Debut Season At White Hart Lane

Having been in the media game for the best part of 15 years, Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara has established himself as a reputable figure in football. We spoke to the former Portsmouth boss about the current ongoings at Tottenham.

There is always talk about Tottenham aiming for the Champions League spots. How does Mauricio Pochettino go about delivering results under that sort of pressure next season?

"He's a good manager that's for sure. To improve what he picked up at Southampton was extraordinary.

"He improved the players - he improved Rodriguez, Lallana and Luke Shaw. He improved the whole squad and the players like playing for him and the fans appreciated the football.

"He did that without any interference at Southampton, so it will be interesting to see if he can do that at Spurs. It depends on how he deals with that."

Roberto Soldado had a tough debut season for Spurs. What have you made of him so far?

"I spoke to Tim Sherwood recently and he said a lot of the new recruits at White Hart Lane have struggled off the pitch. When certain players come to the Premier League they struggle to adapt - they don't like the culture, the food or the traffic. So before they even kick a ball their unhappy. That affects them when you put them on the football pitch.

"It makes life very difficult until you and your family are settled, you learn the language and mingle with the other players. Soldado was one of those that struggled.

"Spurs had all those problems last year and Sherwood thought that given another year he could accommodate that."

Did Sherwood think that benching them and constantly slagging them off to the media would aid their transition to life in the Prem?
