Kiev in for Kranjcar

Ukranian outfit Dynamo Kiev claim they have opened discussions with Tottenham in regards to a move for Niko Kranjcar.

The Croatian has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season and the January signing of Steven Pienaar relegated Kranjcar further down the pecking order.

A January move to Werder Bremen broke down and, despite reported interest from Athletico Madrid and Wolfsburg, it is Kiev that find themselves in pole position for the players' signature.

"We are negotiating for Kranjcar," said Kiev president Igor Surkis.

"We still have to meet him and Tottenham, but he is in our transfer plans.

"We have already missed out on several players - not because we aren't able to meet the demands of their clubs but because not everyone wants to come to the Ukrainian league.

"If Kranjcar thinks over our proposal, searches his soul and wants to come here, then we will buy him with pleasure."

Kranjcar was an integral member of the side that clinched fourth place in 2010 and has been with the club since 2009.
