Spurs set to end Cole's Liverpool misery

Tottenham are set to end Joe Cole's terrible stint with league rivals Liverpool.

The Reds are looking to get the former Chelsea player off the wage bill after reports suggest he is on £90,000 a week.

Liverpool owner John Henry is fuming that a player pushing 30 was given such a lucrative four year deal when the club are looking to invest in youth.

Cole has cost the club a total of £4.1m in wages this season despite playing a total of 1,662 minutes.

Spurs are willing to take Cole on and an offer of £3m is said to have been accepted and a move this week is reportedly set to be completed barring he passes a full medical assessment.

His signing will likely speed up the transfer of Luka Modric's move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils are in the market for a replacment for Paul Scholes and, after baulking at Wesley Sneijder's wage demands, will move for the Croatian after the next round of international fixtures.
