Adebayor on Spurs radar

Outcasted Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a reported target for Tottenham.

The Togolese striker has fallen down the pecking order at Eastlands following the arrivals of Marion Balotelli and Edin Dzeko.

Former Arsenal man Adebayor spent the second half of the season on loan with Real Madrid and is trying to push through a move to the Spanish capital.

However, manager Jose Mourinho's main target remains FC Porto's Radamel Falcao despite recently signing a new deal which sees his release clause rise from £26m to £39m.

Spurs, who were also linked with a move for Falcao, have been in the hunt for Adebayor for sometime and came close to signing the 27-year-old in January before he signed for Madrid.

City's reluctance to sell to a Premiership rival was the major stumbling block but with Adebayor playing no part in the clubs pre-season tour of America, an exit from the club appears inevitable.

The North London club are looking to bolster their front-line this summer and are looking to forwards who can play as a lone striker.

Athletic Bilbao's Fernando Llorente has been mooted as a possible signing while Didier Drogba of Chelsea has also been linked with a move.

It now appears Adebayor, who currently trains on his own with City, is their top target after reports suggested he could be available at a cut-price.
