Rioting worries Gomes

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes admits he, a number of Brazilian internationals based in London, are worried about the rioting in London.

Disturbances across the nations capital began in Tottenham on Saturday night and continued late into Monday night as disturbances made their way to Manchester and Birmingham.

A large police contingent has seen rioting and looting quelled the past two nights but Gomes, who is based in the Chigwell area, admits he has stayed away from the affected areas.

"We have not seen anything yet, because our neighbourhood is quieter, but people are very scared. We are advised to stay at home," Gomes told Globoesporte.

"The training ground is located two minutes from my house and I drive. None of the players I spoke to with the club had problems. The club only asked us to be careful."

The 30-year-old confessed he has been in close contact with Chelsea's Brazilian duo David Luiz and Alex in regards to the disorder that has led to a substantial number of arrests being made across England.

"We talk to know what's going on. The subject is usually the fact that people think that this only happens in Brazil, these episodes of violence, they think they are safe in England," he added.

"But the truth is that you are not relaxed anywhere in the world anymore."
