Pavlyuchenko hoping for Spurs exit

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is hoping to secure a deadline day move away from White Hart Lane.

The Russian international has failed to secure a regular starting spot since moving to the North London side back in 2008 and, following the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor, will find himself fall further down the pecking order.

Sunderland have been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old with Steve Bruce keen to fill the gap that has been left since Darren Bent's departure in January and Pavlyuchenko is hoping a deal can be secured before the 11pm transfer deadline.

"My agent is in London. He met the (Tottenham) chairman Daniel Levy to try to find a way out, but so far there is no solution," he told the Daily Mail.

"We gave the option of going out on loan for six months but Levy opposed it. The team have five forwards, and someone will not even get into the squad, so I should leave.

"We can find options. I know that Sunderland have been actively interested in me.

"In England, miracles can happen on the last day of the transfer window. So there is hope, but it is very small.

"I still want to stay and extend my contract, especially since everything suits me at Tottenham.

"Everything except playing time. But when I am not allowed on the pitch, renewing the contract doesn't make sense."
