Spurs re-ignite Rossi interest

Tottenham appear set to re-ignite their interest in Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian international has seen moves to Barcelona and Juventus fail to materialise and looked all but set to remain in Spain for the coming season.

However, manager Harry Redknapp and head scout Ian Broomfield were in attendance as Villarreal defeated Everton 1-0 last night, where a Rossi free-kick proved the difference between the two sides.

Spurs failed to secure the signing of the 24-year-old back in January and are prepared to offload Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios to Premiership rivals Stoke City for a combined fee of £20m in order to raise the £28m to bring Rossi to White Hart Lane.

The North London outfit have been linked with moves for Fernando Llorente, Emmanuel Adebayor and Diego Forlan this summer as they look to re-vamp their front-line before the new season kicks off next week.
