Pienaar injury scare

Tottenham midfielder Steven Pienaar has suffered a potential injury scare ahead of the new season.

The 29-year-old suffered a potential groin tear during the 2-1 pre-season win over Atletic Bilbao, limping off mid-way through the first-half.

And manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that the South African international has gone to see a specialist the determine the full extent of the problem.

"Steven Pienaar picked up an injury today. He might have torn his groin. I think we're going to take him to a specialist and have a look at him. We'll see how it goes," Redknapp said after the game.

Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe both scored three minutes apart in the second half after Mikel San Jose opened the scoring for the Spanish side.
