Redknapp denies England talk

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has moved to quash speculation that he has held talks with the FA with a view to becoming next England manager.

Redknapp has been heavily linked to replace Fabio Capello when his contract expires next summer.

Reports over the weekend suggested the FA were willing to allow the Italian leave his role early after an abject display against Wales at Wembley, a game which they won and took them to within one point of qualification for the tournament. 

The Spurs manager has spoken of his desire to manage the national side one day but denied he has already spoken to the FA about succeeding Capello.

"Until I get offered the job I wouldn't have a decision to make, but at the moment I haven't spoken to anybody about being England manager," Redknapp said in The Evening Standard.

"I want to see England do well, I want Capello to get them to the Euros and I want them to win it.

"And if they win it under Capello, I definitely won't get it."

Redknapp also spoke of his joy at managing Tottenham as they gearup for their opening Europa League group match against Greek side PAOK.

"I love doing what I'm doing. I enjoy my job at Tottenham. I'm lucky to be managing a top club, a great club, and I love it," he added.
