Spurs make Banega contact

Tottenham have reportedly made contact with Spanish side Valencia over the avalability of Argentinean internationl Ever Banega.

Reports in Spanish newspaper Cadena Ser, Spurs are hoping to secure a loan deal in January with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Valencia appear reluctant to let the 23-year-old leave but the news is likely to deter Spurs as they look to improve, just weeks after the transfer window slammed shut.

The North London outfit only managed to bring in senior players Brad Friedel, Emmanuel Adebayor and Scott Parker during the window while adding Souleymane Coulibaly and Cristian Cabellos to bolster the youth team.

Premier League rivals Everton reportedly tried to sign Banega on loan last January only to see the move scuppered by the former Boca Juniors youngster.
