Suitors to pay up for Leandro

Internacional vice-president Luis Anapa believes clubs will have to pay anything upwards of €50m if they are to snare Leandro Damiao away from the Beira-Rio.

A hosts of clubs are monitoring the progress of the highly rated 22-year-old after a series of fine displays for both club and country.

Barcelona and Tottenham are said to be the most serious of potential suitors while Juventus and Firoentina are said to have been credited with an interest in the Brazilian.

Spurs had two offers turned down for the youngster while the Catalan giants are considering swooping for the player after he netted the equaliser in the 2-2 in the pre-season tournament, the Audi Cup.

However, Leandro had the €50m buyout clause inserted into his new contract and any club wants to buy him, they will have to meet said clause.

"Damiao is proving to be worth the amount specified in his termination clause", Anapa said.

"And with how he is playing I am sure there will be a club willing to pay the amount requested."

Spurs can be considered front-runners for his signature due to the commerical relationship between both clubs and some reports suggest that a deal is already in place to bring him to White Hart Lane in January.
