Spurs can compete

Tottenham have the required depth to compete in all competitions according to manager Harry Redknapp, who is keen to win every game that is thrown at them.

Spurs crashed out of the third round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday, the second time in as many years they have done so after losing 7-6 on penalties to Stoke City.

Both teams were playing their third game in six days after Europa League and Premiership duties the previous week and while Spurs struggled to balance thier domestic and European duties, costing them consecutive fourth place finishes, Redknapp feels the squad is good enough to balance the rigors of the extra games this season.

"We feel we can compete on several fronts, because we have the squad to do it," Redknapp told reporters.

"We changed 10 players for the Europa League side last week, and then another nine players for the Carling Cup.

"So I don't think it'll impact on us too much to be involved in several competitions. It gives us the chance to blood some youngsters, and to give them opportunities.

"OK, sometimes they get thrown in at the deep end, but that gives them experience.

"It can be hard, but we honestly want to remain in every competition. We go into every game wanting to win and believing we can win. When we change the side it allows us to keep the team fresh and compete.

"I am pleased because Rafa (Van Der Vaart) and Sandro got playing time, and showed they are coming back well, which is what we want.

"And Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll were excellent in midfield, absolutely top class, which will give us more options there when they begin to mature and progress."
