Redknapp confirms Huddlestone surgery

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone faces a further spell on the sidelines due to ankle surgery, Harry Redknapp has confirmed.

The 24-year-old hasn't featured for Spurs since the 5-1 defeat to Manchester City almost a month ago.

And Huddlestone now faces a lengthly absence after aggravating a previous ankle problem, which will require surgery to correct.

"He needs another operation," Redknapp said ahead of Spurs Europa League encounter with Shamrock Rovers.

"He's already had one but there is still a problem with him. It's a blow. He will be out for a while."

The news will likely come as a blow to the England international, who will find first team opportunities hard to come by following the return of Sandro and the arrival of Scott Parker.
