Assou-Ekotto backs Adebayor

Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has backed new signing and team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor to be a success at the club.

Adebayor saw his chances at Manchester City limited last year after being frozen out by Roberto Mancini before joining Spurs on loan for the season.

And the Cameroon international has backed the Togolese striker to become a success at White Hart Lane during his time back in North London.

"I don't think there will be any trouble with the Spurs fans and Emmanuel," Assou-Ekotto told skysports.com.

"The fans when they come to the stadium they come to watch football and give their best to the team and I am sure they will support Emmanuel.

"For sure when he used to play for Arsenal the fans did not like him, but for us everyone will love him if he scores 25 goals this season.

"Emmanuel is a great player and I believe he will be a great signing for Spurs this season."
