Spurs looking to make game in hand count

Tottenham take on Everton at White Hart Lane in the re-arranged fixture that could see Spurs move into joint-second.

What was supposed to be the season opener for the Lilywhites ended up postponed following the August riots in the surrounding area and, after losing the next two games to Manchester City and United, Harry Redknapp’s side now have the opportunity to move level on points with the Red Devils.

However, the North London giants head into the fixture with one major injury worry in the form of Scott Parker following the England international limping out of the 1-1 draw with Swansea City on New Year’s Eve.

The combative midfielder is yet to play for the top-four contenders in 2012 after suffering a knock to the knee in the encounter with the Swans.

Ledley King (hamstring), William Gallas, Sandro (both calf) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are all set to sit-out the game against the Toffees.

"Scott [Parker] is struggling," said Harry on Tuesday morning.

"He's doubtful, in fact, he's very doubtful.

"We've one or two injuries. Ledley King has had a scan on his hamstring injury and it's not too bad, but he's not fit."

Potential starting XI

Friedel; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Modric, Parker, Bale; Van der Vaart, Adebayor

Key battle

With Everton suffering somewhat of a growing injury crisis, Marouane Fellaini will be expected to take the encounter by the scruff of the neck and keep Luka Modric’s creative influence to a minimum. However, if Scott Parker is passed fit, fans of both sides expect a fierce midfield battle to ensue between the two.
