Spurs hoping to Bag all three points

Tottenham kick-off 2012 with a home encounter against a West Bromwich Albion side who suffered their first defeat in four games in the 1-0 defeat to Everton on New Year’s day.

Harry Redknapp must decide whether or not to alter his starting XI for the arrival of Roy Hodgson’s side.

Jermain Defoe successfully made a return to first team action in the 1-1 draw at Swansea over the weekend while Michael Dawson was on the bench in the same encounter.

Meanwhile, having sat out the Norwich and Swansea games, Ledley King should be fit to face the Baggies after having ample time to rest his troublesome knee.

It remains to be seen whether or not Redknapp will risk his captain in the game meaning Younes Kaboul and William Gallas could both pair up in the back four once again.

Aaron Lennon is expected to be fit after recovering from a hamstring problem picked up against Sunderland while Scott Parker will face a late fitness test after limping off on Saturday’s draw.

Tom Huddlestone (ankle) is expected to be back in training within the month but won’t be ready for action until February.

Elsewhere, Roman Pavlyuchenko (ankle) and Sebastien Bassong (back) are both doubts for the fixture.

Potential starting XI

Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Gallas, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Sandro, Modric, Bale; Van der Vaart, Adebayor
