Those AVB quotes

"There is nothing, it is all lies," Andre Villas-Boas was quoted as telling O Jogo today. Many have speculated he is referring to the vacant Tottenham Hotspur managerial position. However, having checked the O Jogo website, there is no print of question asked from the reporter who published the words of the Portuguese tactician.

As we all know, the former Chelsea and FC Porto boss has been heavily linked with the vacant spot at White Hart Lane, at one point being the overwhelming favourite. However, with the quotes today, Laurent Blanc has since caught up on the bookmaker’s odds, with some suggesting the 34-year-old isn’t, in actual fact, in the running for the role.

Yet, the lack of question published is puzzling. For all the fans know, Villas-Boas could’ve been referring to the reports linking him to the Liverpool spot last month, or something along those lines. The O Jogo reporter could have asked him anything to obtain to quotes, ranging from a football related matter to whether he dyes his beard that colour.

Either way, the media appear to have jumped all over this and assumed, without evidence, it is related to Spurs. What is important is to not look much into it. Yes, Villas-Boas said what he said but, as I mentioned, there is little to suggest that he was referring to the position that Harry Redknapp left.

Furthermore, ITK’s suggest that a deal is complete, but can’t be officially unveiled until July 1^st due to stipulations with his pay-off from Chelsea. Either way, it is best not to look too much into the words from the young manager and hold fire until the beginning of July, when it is believed that Spurs will start their business for the summer.
