Tottenham Hotspur vs QPR match preview

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Queen’s Park Rangers to White Hart Lane today, in a game that has been dubbed a must win for both sides.

The North London side come off the back of a hard fought 0-0 draw with Lazio, in which Spurs could feel aggrieved not to have taken all three points having seen goals from Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe and Steven Caulker all chalked off.

Head-coach Andre Villas-Boas must first decide who starts the encounter in between the sticks. Hugo Lloris made his debut mid-week, but the 34-year-old is like to persist with Brad Friedel, who will make his 309th consecutive start should he get the nod.

Furthermore, the Portuguese tactician must also decide whether to recall William Gallas to the starting XI or allow Steven Caulker to make his second start of the campaign.

Emmanuel Adebayor (hamstring) will face a late fitness test, while Kyle Naughton, who left White Hart Lane on crutches with his foot in a protective boot, is expected to be fit.

However, Villas-Boas will be without Scott Parker (Achilles), Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee), Younes Kaboul (knee) and Jake Livermore (groin).

Possible starting XI:

Friedel; Walker, Vertonghen, Gallas, Naughton; Sandro, Dembele; Lennon, Sigurdsson, Bale; Defoe
