Where Would Andrea Pirlo Fit In At Spurs

No, you read the title correctly. The Daily Mail are reportingthat Andre Villas-Boas is lining up a move for Juventus regista Andrea Pirlo. A man so incredible on the ball he hardly has to move to leave spectators amazed. Let's take a deep breath and analyse the situation.

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has a long line of clubs queueing for his signature. And rightly so.

Last season the Italy international created 95 opportunities for his team-mates, the same tally as Juan Mata at Chelsea, and he completed 87% of his passes. He often dictates games with his vision and technique, while tearing defences apart with his awareness of the opposition.

He won 57% of his duels, and hit the target with 52% of his shots.

This season, Juventus are still yet to lose. With six wins and a draw to date, Pirlo has been crucial to their success. His curled free kick against his former club AC Milan this weekend crowned his Serie A performances, as he has so far completed 89% of his passes and won 59% of his duels.

Where he would fit in at White Hart Lane is anybody's guess, as they are blessed with midfield talent, especially in the central areas. Sandro and Paulinho are joined by Etienne Capoue and Mousa Dembele, but you get the feeling that Pirlo would slot straight into the side.

Will it happen? I sure hope so.

Sandro, Paulinho, Capoue and Dembele do not create anything in midfield. These are the wrong players for Spurs, whose tradition is to play entertaining football.

Pirlo is the ideal player for Spurs, who has the flair and creativity that Spurs midfield is lacking.

Don't you think that the midfield is too slow to get the ball up the field, whilst he could hit more accurate long passes, he would not help get the ball to the front men more quickly
Undoubtedly quality that he is I would personally persist with the players that we have already bought, especially Caroll.
