Spurs battle it out with London rivals for third spot

It’s neck and neck in the EPL at the moment. It’s the "bum on seat edges", "no, I can't look at the penalty", "nail biting (and spitting out because it’s actually disgusting)" time in football. Three London teams competing for a Champions league spot and neither of them are willing to back down.

Arsenal are on a good run at the moment having gone five games without a loss. Although their latest fixture against Fulham was a little shaky, they managed to pull off a win and maintain their place in third position. They face their toughest game yet against Man United on Sunday and it’s not even about points for most of the players, it’s the pride that hangs in the balance for the gunners.

Chelsea’s game seems to be at the tip of everyone’s tongue but it’s all for the wrong reasons. It’s sad how a slight cannibalistic moment can make such an amazing game lose its value. Yes, Suarez had no business biting Ivanovic, and yes he got a 10 match ban to which he seems really confused over. However in the midst of it all, that was one of the best games I have had the great pleasure of watching this season. Both teams had nothing to lose and they just went at it leaving nothing behind. Chelsea drew first blood with some brilliant play from Oscar and went into half time with a 1-0 lead over the Reds. Second half substitute and ex Chelsea player Daniel Sturridge came on for Liverpool and felt he had something to prove to the Blues.

Whose idea was to name these teams after primary colours?

Before finding the net in the 52^nd minute he had already created three goal scoring opportunities, running rampant around the defense. A hand ball from Suarez and a converted kick from the spot by Young Player of the year nominee Eden Hazard gave Chelsea the edge and the one goal lead they needed to climb back to 3^rd place above Arsenal.  Unfortunately for The Blues Suarez had to twist to this fairytale ending with a set piece header past Cech and drawing level at 2-2.

The second most amazing comeback of the season (the first being Arsenals 3 goals in 8 minutes against Norwich) was the Spurs against Man City on Sunday. Just when all the Arsenal fans were getting excited that their London rivals were in some kind of trouble, the resilience of AVB’s men persevered and they made a spectacle of the sky blues, thus leaving second, third and fourth place wide open.

With one five points between 2^nd and 3^rd and only 3 points between 3^rd and 5^th only can only imagine the type of ruthless and beautiful football that will be played in the last few weeks. All we can do now is hope for the best for all the teams and at the top of our lungs because that’s what football fans do.
