Ade contemplates Togo U-turn

Emmanuel Adebayor could be set for a sensational return to international football with Togo.

The Tottenham striker, on loan from Manchester City, retired from the international fold almost two-years' ago after seeing three of his friends killed in a terrorist attack on the team bus, while admitting he came within inches of being seriously hurt himself.

But, according to Togo FA vice-president Herve Piza, the 27-year-old could be set to return to international football in time for the Hawks World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign.

"We hope and believe our efforts will come to fruition," Piza is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"Adebayor expressed a desire to rejoin the team towards the end of the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifying campaign.

"He eventually chose to stay back. But the World Cup is important to him."
