Gallas looking to next season

William Gallas has already admitted to looking to new the season just hours after Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City meaning the latter, not the former, will be playing Champions League football next season.

The former Arsenal centre-back has formed a formidible partnership at the back with Michael Dawson this season and is focusing beyond the club's league encounter with Liverpool on Sunday which could, potentially, turn out to be be a Europa League deciding fixture.

Gallas, following Tuesday's fixture, said "I'm looking forward to it. We will work hard in pre-season, speak together and be ready for the start of the season.

"We'll take it game by game and before the games will know what we have to say and what we have to do. I think it's important to start very well."

After falling at the quarter final hurdle, the 1-0 loss for City meant Spurs will not be competing in Europe's top competition for at least another 12 months and Gallas has said that missing out on Champions League football next season has been a hard pill to swallow.

"I'm sure all the players are upset now. It's the best competition in Europe and you want to play and compete against the big clubs in Europe.

"But like I said, next season we have to be sure we start very well and I think our target will be to play in the Champions League again."

Gallas recently signed a new two year contract extension to his current deal and the 33 year old will be looking to participate in the Champions League again before his contract expires in 2013.
