Modric issues transfer request

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has reportedly issued a transfer request to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

The 25-year-old's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject to intense speculation since the end of the season with Chelsea leading the race for his signature.

The Blues have seen two bids, £22m and £27m respecitvely, rejected as the club look to hold onto the Spurs Player of the Year.

Modric has threatened to hand in an official request over the past ten days and reports now suggest he has formally handed his request into Levy.

Croatian intrnational Modric is currently away with the team in South Africa on their pre-seaon tour but is desperate to secure a move to Stamford Bridge.

Levy and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp have always insisted they want to keep Modric at White Hart Lane but now risk unsettling the squad now that his request has been made public.
