Spurs open Vucinic talks

Tottenham have reportedly opened talks with Roma over a move for £15m rated Mirko Vucinic.

The 27-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Italian club following the arrivals of Bojan from Barcelona and former River Plate wonderkid Erik Lamela.

Vucinic has been attracing interested from Blackburn Rover, Bayern Munich and Juventus in recent weeks but it is Spurs who lead the race for the Montenegrin international.

The Romas striker has reportedly fallen out with fans of the Italian side and is said to be keen on a move to Spurs.

However, the main stumbling block appears to be the fee with the North London outfit not keen on matching Roma's valuation of £17.5m, instead hoping to negotiate it down to £15m.

With Spurs currently in South Africa for their pre-season tour, chairman Daniel Levy has been in discussions with the Italian capital side over the last 48 hours hoping that a deal could be in place by the time the team arrives back in London.

“Vucinic is an extremely talented player and a big improvement on what we've got, so an approach has been made to see if a deal can be done,” a Tottenham insider said

“He is versatile, skilful, he scores goals and he can play either on his own up front or with a partner – so he suits our needs."

However, worries are beginning to surface about the players' tempermant after the former Lecce star was criticised for his poor form and body language.

“Roma want it decided quickly one way or the other so Harry will have to decide whether he wants to push through with it to the end. There are questions about his attitude and poor form last season, but Harry knows how to get the best out of a confidence player," the Spurs insider added.

Redknapp still would like to add another striker to the ranks even if a deal is reach to bring Vucinic to White Hart Lane.

However, Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi won't be moving to Spurs after reports suggested that Juventus had agreed a £26.4m fee for the Italian international.
