Spurs close in on Parker

Tottenham are reportedly close to securing a loan move for West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker.

Parker has been on manager Harry Redknapp's radar for sometime now and came close to joining Spurs in January.

A move failed to materialise at the time but following West Ham's relegation, a host of clubs have been linked with a move for the England international.

The East London side are keen for the 30-year-old to leave on a short-term basis as they are confident they can bounce back to the Premiership after one season in teh Championship.

Chelsea are also throught to be interested in taking Parker back to Stamford Bridge on loan after Michael Essien was ruled out for six months through injury while Aston Villa are said to have made a £7m bid in order to secure his services.

However, the FWA Player of the Year is said to be keen on a move to Spurs who are in the market for a ball winning midfieler after Brazilian Sandro was ruled out for three months following knee surgery.
