Redknapp eyes up 'new Modric'

Tottenham are reportedly leading the race in the hunt for Hajduk Split striker Ante Vukusic who has been dubbed the 'new Luka Modric'.

Manager Harry Redknapp has been eyeing up the 20-year-old for sometime and wants to pair both Vukusic and Modric together rather that replacing the latter with the former.

The agent of Vukusic, Kenneth Shepherd, claims his client has his heart set on a move to England which has alerted both Newcastle United and Everton to his availability.

And after 18 goals for Hajduk last season, the £5m rated forward is likely to see his value rise over the coming months.

A source close to the player said on the situation “Ante wants to play in England and it’s only a matter of time before he does.

“All the top clubs already know a lot about him because of his performances for Hajduk last season.

“Comparisons with Modric are inevitable because he looks just as good as he did at the same age.”
