Dawson believes Modric will stay

Tottenham captain Michael Dawson believes that the club have done enough to keep Luka Modric at White Hart Lane.

The North London outfit have been unusually quiet this summer, with Brad Friedel the only senior player to join since the transfer window opened.

Much speculation has seen Modric linked with a move to Chelsea and reports suggest the Blues are going to make one final bid for the diminutive playmaker.

Dawson, however, feels that manager Harry redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy have done enough to keep hold of the 25-year-old for the time being.

"I certainly hope so [keep Modric], he is a top player, the chairman has come out and said he is not going to sell and I hope we can keep him," said Dawson.

The England international has also back Levy and Redknapp to strengthen before the close of the transfer window as the North London side look to break back into the top four.

"If you look around the dressing room you can see we have a fantastic squad," the former Nottingham Forest defender added.

"I'm sure the gaffer and the chairman will want to bring in one or two as you always want to improve, freshen things up and go one better this year.

"We had some great nights last year in the Champions League, we went to some great places and It where you want to play your football. Our aim is to break in there again."
