Redknapp confirms Adebayor talks
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed the club are in talks to bring Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor back to North London.
The Togolese forward left rivals Arsenal for City in 2009 but has found himself down the pecking order with the Eastlands side following the arrivals of Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero.
Having spent a latter half of last season on loan with Real Madrid, the 27-year-old admitted he would welcome a permanent move back to the Spanish capital.
However, no move materialised and Spurs look to have stolen a march on the Spanish giants in the race to sign Adebayor.
And Redknapp was keen to stress that while talks have been ongoing for some time, the players' £170,000 weekly-wages appear to be the main stumbling block.
"The chairman is talking to Man City about the player but where they (the negotiations) are at, I genuinely don't know," Redknapp said.
Some reports have suggested that all terms had been agreed and the former Togo international looked set to sign in time for the match against Manchester United on Monday night.
