King wants final day starting spot

Tottenham club captain Ledley King has told Spurs TV that he wants to retain his starting spot for the final game of the save against relegation threatened Birmingham City.

King has has been sidelined for the past seven months with a problematic groin injury but turned in a display of the highest quality in the sides 2-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Now the defender has set his sights on Sunday's fixture and hopes to figure in back-to-back games for the first time in over a year.

Deputising for the injured William Galls, King said "I am fine. I have a few little aches and pains now but that's normal and with the recovery it's been so far so good, so hopefully I will be involved in the last game on Sunday.

"It was great to be back playing. I made my debut at Anfield so it's a stadium that holds a lot of memories for me. It was nice to be part of such a great team performance that got the win."

King was also quick to lavish the praised on defensive partner Michael Dawson who, he believes, can only get better with time.

"Michael has been outstanding," he said.

"He always is when I play alongside him. He's getting better and better and his game has elevated to new levels.

"It's nice to play alongside him. I knew I would get tired during the Liverpool game, that I would have spells when I would have to dig deep, and it's great to have someone like Michael there alongside you."

A win on Sunday would see Spurs secure fifth place thus ensuring a spot in next seasons Europa League.
