Joe Cole a no-go

A source close to Spurs has revealed that Joe Cole will not be joining the club this summer.

Speculation had been rife that Cole was North London bound after a reported £3m bid had been accepted by Liverpool.

However, Spurs have moved to quash the rumours that the former Chelsea man was set to be bought in as a replacement for Luka Modric.

Modric has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer despite both the player and manager Harry Redknapp insisting he won't be leaving.

Cole has endured a torrid time this season with Liverpool making a majority of his appearances from the bench.

He even came close to joining Spurs last summer before opting for Liverpool.
