Defoe: A Tribute To The Departing Spurs Striker

Defoe joined Tottenham from London rivals West Ham in January 2004 as a 21-year-old for an initial £6 million rising to 7 million, with Bobby Zamora going the other way as a bargaining chip.

Would Benteke Be Tottenham's Ideal Signing In January?

Tottenham are having a positive season so far, but there are a few areas that they could improve on, in my opinion. They have started the campaign in  a solid fashion, conceding just six league goals, and sit just five points off top spot. But they are struggling at the other end, despite big money signing Roberto Soldado coming into the club in the summer. Andre Villas-Boas' side have scored just nine league goals, more than three times less than Manchester City have scored (28).

‘Adebayor, Adebayoooooor, Jermain scores the odd goal, but can’t do much more'

Following his permanent arrival over the summer, many had expected Emmanuel Adebayor to walk back into the starting XI. However, a combination of injury and the form of Jermain Defoe means the Togolese front-man will find it harder to reclaim his place in the team. However, Raj Bains insists it won't be long before Adebayor has forced his way to the top of the striking pecking order.

Tottenham Hotspur have the money for a striker, right?

The new season is upon, and with it comes a wave of excitement. Well, unless you support Tottenham Hotspur. Positive changes have been made this summer in order to improve the squad, with Andre Villas-Boas, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen all arriving. Two strikers that would be perfect at White Hart Lane

As a child, playing up front is the position that any kid wants to play. Pulling on the number nine shirt filled any youngster with the confidence to smash the ball into the back of the net on a regular basis, whether it was a kick about with friends with jumpers for goalposts or in an 11-a-side game for the local side, nothing felt better than knowing you were the main man; the primary source of goals.

Should Redknapp be starting Defoe over Van der Vaart?

It is a selection headache that any manager would crave, or even loathe. Jermain Defoe, the pint-sized hit-man, has been in superb form for Tottenham recently, adding to his goal tally with each passing game. But, waiting in the wings is Rafael Van der Vaart. The Dutchman has the ability to make something out of nothing, unlock the most subborn of defences with a simple pass and, once again nearing full-fitness, any fan would love the luxury of calling on the talented midfielder. Both can't play at the same time so what to do? Claire Needham investigates for To the Lane and Back.

#wwwwdwwwww was a favoured trending topic of Tottenham fans on Saturday evening. An excellent run of form that began at the beginning of September following a 2-0 win over Wolves, it is now 10 games unbeaten in the Premiership and a run that has catapulted the North London giants up to third in the table, just two points off second placed Manchester United.
